The result might not have been what the Warwick Road faithful had hoped for, but certainly the effort and committment was there and we should have had more out of what was an entertaining match.

Aspatria may think it a tad unfair, but the game was gifted to them rather than the home side having won it.

Plenty of guts and industry was let down by occasional defensive frailties.

Pre match preparations were disrupted by illness (lock, Martin Grealish) and injury (flanker, Matt Charters). The cause wasn’t helped by a dislocated shoulder to Paddy (Gareth) Wylie who was at lock for Grealish, but not before he grabbed himself a try that Glen Weightman converted in addition to a penalty.

In the second half Chris Harris, newly elevated in the centre from Colts rugby put in a star performance in the centre, improving on his good debut the previous week.  A great try by Harris was improved by Matt Rogers.

Disappointing perhaps, but something to build on for next Saturday at home to Ilkley.
