The start of the season at Warwick Road has been wrecked with the constant downpours. More continuous are forecast that will only compound the situation.

The 1st XV match with Workington (that replaced the publicised game with Kirkby Lonsdale) has gone; the Crusaders ‘Candy’ League opening fixture of the season with Middlesbrough has also fallen victim to the weather.

An inauspicious start too for the Hornets. Netherhall should have been the visitors, but they called the match off before it could be cancelled due to the weather. We hope this is not the forerunner to fixture problems in the Zoned Shield League!

Also off is the Colts v Austin Friars fixture.

In doubt too will be all the opening games and training on Sunday, 7th September, for the youth and junior section; although the player registration day will still go ahead as planned at the Club.

See you all next week – weather permitting!

David Morton

Club Secretary.
