Blaydon’s visit was keenly awaited, the previous two meetings between these teams have been tough, entertaining, close matches..but this surpassed our expectations.

Carlisle dominated the first half, with identical tries from Jordie C well set up by Adam, followed  by a great forty yard solo effort from Adam himself, and a close in effort by Dom on the stroke of half-time following good forward play.

Blaydon had earlier replied with two tries (one converted) to make it 20-12 in favour of the home team at half-time.

In the second half, Carlisle again dominated, but two breakaway tries under the posts in quick succession which were both converted, saw the visitors, inspired by a powerful number 8, lead 20-26 with twelve minutes to go.

On previous occasions, Carlisle heads might have dropped, but they fought back well, and had several chances to score before Adam ran in under the posts, allowing Macca to convert, giving the home side a slim, but well-deserved victory.

Final score Carlisle 27 – Blaydon 26
