Candy League

For the first twenty minutes we were bullied up front by a very strong and powerful Westoe front five. They were very mature and experienced.

Our front five were comparatively young, with John Bowman, Josh Holmes, Matt Davies, , skipper Hess, Callum and Adam Spiers, all in their late teens or early twenties.

There was some poor first up defence where we missed too many gain line tackles and allowed Westoe a flattering score line, and that coupled with a very good scrum half just signed from Durham City, who ran in no less than four tries.  That left the Crusaders with some work to do on scrummage technique and defence along with defence around the fringes.

Crusaders man of the match went to hooker, John Bowman, who hit hard and carried strongly, rewarding him with the only Crusaders try of the game.

Next week away to Penrith.
