This game is best described as “a win’s a win!”

Again our lads did not perform in a manner that would do their collective and individual skill levels justice!

Fitness for the most part is not a problem, some need work and they know who they are.  There were numbers to the breakdowns but unfortunately having got there, those numbers did not do what was needed resulting in a largely static game.  Our correspondent tells us that is was best described as incompetent rucking!   This was the case for eighty minutes, so, couple that with no recognisdable scrum half, slow wayward ball to number ten with no forward momentum and the rest was lack lustre.

The Sunderland pack hit up well and deserved their early three point lead from a penalty; solid try line defence from the |Crusaders stopped furthers scores by Sunderland and three nil it was at the break. Anything else to say about the opening period?  No.

Ten minutes into the second half. a strong run by centre Martin Plummer with a(n) (clever) offload to centre partner Dan Holmes saw Dan push hard for the line for a good try converted by Luke Graham

Hope that this would spur on the Carlisle team was misplaced and not more than ten minutes later, a push over try from Sunderland saw them go into an 8 pts to 7 pts.

The Crusaders never looked like winning the match but skipper for the day, Matt Davis, broke free and pushed hard up the pitch, supported by Richard “Hess” Liddle.  Somehow, Liddle found Tim Doughty on the wing to dart for the line in the corner.  This, the last play of the game  –  Crusaders 12 pts, Sunderland 8 pts.
