Candy League

With seven minutes to go the Crusaders were leading 7 pts to 5 pts….a forwards try by Tim Doughty after a good forward pick and go!

Compared to the match the previous week with Sunderland this was a much more competent Crusaders show.  The forwards dominated the game creating a lot of possession.  Take nothing away from Jay Ritson who stepped up to the mark st scrum half, but the absence of a regular player in the number nine slot cost Carlisle dearly!

Carlisle did though, throughout the game, create chances and on at least three occasions have overlaps where, had the outside backs committed the opposition and given the pass instead of stepping back inside, a score would have been the outcome.

With seven minutes remaining Horden did what Carlisle failed to do, move the ball through the hands to the wing for a score out wide.  The last play of the game saw the other winger touchdown to give them a falettering result!

The Crusaders are a young side still learning their trade, and they will have reaped some benefit from this experience.

Tries:    Tim Doughty (1)

Conversions:    Luke Graham (1)
