A slippy journey to Kendal in wintery conditions found a ground more suited to alpine sports than rugby!

Carlisle were positive from the outset against this scratch Kendal team.

After 11 minutes Ryan scored the first try after good forward movement, from a five metre scrum. Unconverted.

Seven minutes later, Adam scored a second try, following a Kendal error which exposed weakness in their defence. Unconverted.

After 25 minutes, Henry scored a try on the right after good spun out passing movement. Unconverted.

On the stroke of half-time, Tom Fisher scored after an explosive burst of energy from the forwards, leading to four good passes for Tom to dive over. Unconverted.

At half – time, Carlisle 20, Kendal 0.

7 minutes into the second half, a smart feint from Dom opened a gap for Adam to score.

Henry duly converted.

After a further 3 minutes, fumbling errors by Carlisle’s defence allowed Kendal onto the score sheet, with a converted try.

JT reply 8 minutes later with a try from a 5 metre scrum. Unconverted.

With 5 minutes left to play, Kendal scored a second consolation try, after another Carlisle defensive error.

Kendal will be a force to be reckoned with once they have some more games under their belt if this hard fought game is any indicator.

Overall a good result for Carlisle, with improved rucking, more aggression and good distribution.

Man of the match was Dominic.
