On cold and blustery day Carlisle’s combined under 9/10 squad enjoyed a traditional welcome at Aspatria, as friendly off the field as it was feisty on it.

Despite having a few absentees in key positions, Aspatria gave Carlisle by far their sternest test of the season so far and it was only towards the end of the game as Carlisle’s larger squad and strength in depth began to tell, that the result was made certain.

Chris Green and Bruce Spencer again dominated the try scoring for Carlisle – but this was a much improved team performance with some great performances from some of the newer and less experienced members of the squad. Rory Carrigan gave his best performance in a Carlisle shirt to date at prop – whilst Alex  Hodgkinson in his first full outing tackled tenaciously at centre. Gregory Baines continued his promising start to the season and again  managed to get on the scoresheet, whilst Ruaridh Barker showed great pace in the scrum half berth.
