CLUB ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

PROPOSED CHANGES TO ELECTION OF PRESIDENT

notices20signsAdvance notice so that you can put an entry in your diary!  The 2009 annual general meeting will be held in the Club on WEDNESDAY, 8th JULY at 8.00 pm.

Formal notification of the meeting will take place in the usual way nearer the time, and any motions must be submitted in accordance with the constitution, a copy of which can be found on this website.

One motion that will be put forward will deal with the election of the Club President.  At the moment, the post holder is elected annually but in practise and once elected, the post holder continues until either resignation or death.

There is a school of thought that this practise precludes many other worthy people from holding this office.  Indeed, John Tiffen,  who has been the president since the death of Angus Broatch, has been instrumental in initiating the proposed alterations to the constitution.

What will be proposed is, that the president be elected for a two year term of office. If the move is supported at the AGM, any future president will, after serving his / her term of office, be able to stand for re-election (if they so wish) in competition with any other nominees

Keep your eyes peeled for further information in due course!
