Cumbria Shield League
After a sweeping victory the previous week away at Silloth, the Hornets followed up that success with the demolition of Whitehaven at Warwick Road.
Whitehaven, to their credit, rang before the game and said they only had 10 men but arrived with 14. A Carlisle Crusader martyred for the West Cumbriam side and they played on in spirited fashion.
Both sides agreed to share the Carlisle replacements, but it was into the second half before ‘haven indulged!
The score points to a one sided game but it was from that. Both sides played some entertaining rugby.
At half time the Hornets had a 28 point advantage and doubled up for the final score.
Scorers for Carlisle:
Tries: Franny Dixon (3), Gary Farrer, Kellos, Monkey, Matt Henderson, James Armiger and Ian Watson – 1 apiece.
Cons: Franny Dixon (1) and Matt Henderson (5).
