With season now drawing to a close, and only two (possibly three) games remaining, we can a look back on a year of re-organisation and consolidation.

With a new coach at the helm, changes were inevitable.  Players and coaching staff getting used to each other, new training styles and a different playing approach, were always going to take time to be effective.

As the season wore on, a gradual and pleasing improvement could be detected. Results, whilst not necessarily consistent, were good enough to allow us to establish a comfortable mid table slot.  Much of the pressure was removed when it became clear that there would be no relegation  –  as a consequence of the league shake up for the 2009 – 2010 season.

Carlisle now have what is probably one of the youngest senior squads in North 2 East.  It has been great to see the gradual introduction of new young faces that have been coming through from the colts squad.  That in itself is testament to the fantastic work put in by coaches Phil Healy and Steve Alecock who work tirelessly for the beneficial  future of the Club.

Saturday, 18th April takes us to Billingham for our last league game if the season and our first ever visit there.  The Teesiders were early season callers at Warwick Road and went away with both points.  Newly promoted, they have shared the pacesetting for most of the season, and at one point looked like making it up another level.

The following week, 25th April we take a short journey to Lowmoor Road for the cup semi fina encounter with Wigton.  It will be no easy game with Wigton having had a good season in North Lancs / Cumbria League, and vying for the place off slot for a good part of the season.
