MATCH OF THE YEAR
STEVE AND NICHOLA

Friday, 26th June 2009 was the chosen day for Club Captain, Steve Stamper, and his bride, Nichola Beresford-Jones.  After their marriage at Wetheral Parish Church, and the obligatory official photographs, the assembled company moved on to The Crown Hotel, Wetheral for the wedding breakfast and evening celebration.  There they were joined by family, friends and many colleagues from Carlisle RFC.

The weather was kind to the happy couple who, in the evening, entertained their guests to a garden in the grounds of the hotel.

We have stolen a march on “OK” magazine who were bidding for the picture rights of the wedding!

All at Carlisle RFC thank the happy couple for their hospitality and wish them well for a long and happy marriage  -  although things will get off with a hiccup  -  Stamps will miss the openin g of pre-season training  -  apparently Dubai and other exotic locations have a greater pull for the time being!

Scotty is remembered as a great half back who had a productive playing spell at Warwick Road before returning to his home county of Norfolk, where he now features as player / coach at Lowestoft.

Best wishes to Scott and his bride for the future.

Doubtless, he would feel “at home” at his wedding, with several of the Carlisle lads travelling down to support him on his big day.

A number of Carlisle players were called up to play their part in the Cumbria assault on the County Championship towards the end of the season.  Although not on the winning side, all the lads acquitted themselves well and doubtless can look to advancing their representative careers in the future.
