Referee Education Session
Referee Education Session
(Two Modules – The Scrum & Tackle/Ruck)
Please find below information on the upcoming Referee Education Evening at Cockermouth RUFC on Sunday 30thAugust (10.00am-1pm). I hope that you may be interested in attending or that you may be able to forward this email to any contacts you have that may wish to attend.
The session will include two modules – Refereeing the Scrum and Tackle/ Ruck. It will look into the methods and practices of this area of refereeing and how to communicate and deal with any issues that may arise. It looks at key areas of the game and how referees can work with players and coaches to improve the game and the skills of all involved. As a major safety area, we hope that anyone involved in coaching or refereeing will see the need to gain further training on Scrum issues and with the new iRB guidelines on the tackle/ ruck areas this may be crucial to your development of players and managing contact situations this season.
I hope that you will see the benefit of learning more about this and will be able to attend. It is part of the Continuous Referee Development Award and will ensure that you keep up to date with law variations, training and will hopefully aid your rugby development. A certificate of Attendance will be given for each module covered.
Further information available on www.rfu.com/referee
It is open to players, coaches, spectators and qualified referees and you do not need to have attended any other sessions or be committed to further modules. Any current or past players that would like to give some input or listen to the views of referees would be most welcome! There will be time towards the end for a questions and answers session where any areas of refereeing can be discussed.
The cost is £10 per person (as two modules) and I hope that many of you will see the benefit of attending and look forward to seeing you next week.
Could you please email back or complete the attached REE Application Form and send to Lindsay Piper, or request further information. Please pass on to anyone that you think may be interested.
The closing date for applications is Wed 26th Aug

CARLISLE 41 pts TRINITY ACCIES 10 pts
Not that you can read anything into pre – season matches, but the opener at Warwick Road on, 15th August was rather a scrappy affair, but played in a good spirit, and with a few eye catching performances from some who are seeking to break new ground this time round!
It took a while to make an impact but once the doors were opened, the hosts ran out with a comfortable 41 pts to 10 pts victory.
A bonding weekend is next on the agenda with the lads heading for Keswick on Friday 21st August for an overnight camp! The following day, two fixtures (1st’s & Crusaders) are arranged with Keswick (3.00 pm).
On 29th August Ashington bring two teams to Warwick Road (3.00 pm) and after that the new league season breaks into action with Sandal our guests on 5th September in the opener.

Structured Season 09/10
August 17, 2009 by admin
The structured season provides a framework for participants at all levels in clubs and schools to develop their involvement in the sport through a balance of matches (competitive and friendly) and development of skills and training.
The overriding principle is that the need of young players should come first.
The following youth structured season table for 2009/2010 should help to get this balance right.
