Carlisle’s Under 14’s first home game of the season against Kirkby Lonsdale started with Carlisle in dominant fashion with Carlisle’s backs cutting through Kirkby Lonsdale’s defense leading to the first try of the game by Tom Coulthard after 3 minutes.  Straight from kick-off, good handling by the backs lead to Matt Hawley going over for the second try, Brett Connon converted.

Kirkby Lonsdale then took the game to Carlisle through the forwards with the Carlisle pack frequently loosing the ball at the breakdown.  A 12 minute break by Carlisle backs led to Brett Connon scoring near the posts which he then converted.

Kirkby Lonsdale kicked  off the 2nd half with Joel Davidson catching the ball and setting on a 60 metre run down into the Kirkby Lonsdale 22, before being tackled into touch.  From the line out  Carlisle won the ball and strong driving by the forwards led to Tom Fuller going over for Carlisle’s 4th try which was again converted by Brett Connon.

This inspired Kirkby Lonsdale into life and with some strong forward play and good running from the backs, they crossed the line on 3 minutes for a converted try by Jack.

The fight back continued from Kirkby Lonsdale with Robert Helm going over for another converted try 2 minutes later.  Carlisle then responded with another 2 tries of their own,  the first from James Robson and the second from Tom Coulthard.

In the flucturating style of the 2nd half, Kirkby Lonsdale fought back with another two tries from Brendan Cleary and Jack.

Strong pressure from the Carlisle pack in the final minutes of the game led to Matt Hawley crossing for his second try of the game.
