The downpours of recent days have caused chaos to the rugby programme for this coming weekend 20 / 21 /22 November.  Friday evening should have seen the Club hosting the University of Cumbria inter campus 10’s competition  –  already postponed once because of the waterlogged state of the pitches.

The Colts match with Wigton on Saturday is also in doubt and very unlikely to go ahead.

Saturday was a blank day in the league programme for the 1st in North 1 East and the Crusaders in the Candy League.

Ben Blain, our young VRugby Volunteer co-ordinator and his team of helpers – James Armiger and Tom Graham, had a tag competition organised for the Sunday, and that too has be swept away.

Although the pitches are waterlogged, we keep our fingers crossed that the floods of 2005 will not be repeated.  So far, so good, with the flood defence system erected around the city by the Environent Agency, holding good so far.

Floods latest – Your local BBC radio station forms part of the emergency procedure. BBC Cumbria will keep you up to date with developments around the county.  Regular updates throughout the day on BBC Radio Cumbria.

Environment agency – With further rain forecast for the weekend, the risk of more flooding in the county is high.
