The unsettling start to the season for the city side continued at Warwick Road on Saturday.  Already with two defeats behind them, Carlisle were hoping to get on track with the newly promoted side from Doncaster.

It was not to be though.  The visitors set a cracking pace in the opening ten minutes leaving their hosts in the slip stream.  It took a couple of converted tries in the first eleven minutes to alert Carlisle to the fact that they were in a game.

The city side started to put things together and although they had the measure of the visiting pack in the scrums, they had a tendency, having got possession, all to often to kick it away and find themselves subject to the counter attack.

They set about clawing their way back into the game and there were signs that they might well manage to redeem the damage. But, they had to be content with a couple of penalties from fly half Grant Connon, until the seventieth minute when Barry Earl, on the right wing, touched down for a try that Connon converted.  Tails up and with the margin closed to a point, Carlisle kept up the pressure and with four minutes remaining, Connon lodged a penalty that put them ahead.

Disappointment was to follow though.  The South Yorkshiremen were determined to take league points back with them and put Carlisle under pressure and, despite some stoic home defence, they got a try just at the death.
