Carlisle U13’s put in a terrific performance to come back from being 10 points down to beat Ponteland 31 – 15 at Warwick Rd on 17th October 2010.
Strong play from Ponteland’s forwards saw them run through the Carlisle backs to score twice early on and put the home side on the back foot. Carlisle did not make much of an impression until late in the first half when determined play after a scrum 15 metres out saw the strength of Max Graham drive over to score the first try.
The second half started the same as the first, as the Ponteland forwards once again snatched a try out wide, but the home side responded in style shortly after with a solid drive over by No.8 Cory Wilkinson.
The final 20mins were intense but continuous driving, rucking and excellent passing from the backs saw Carlisle score again through full back Josh Heap, scrum half James Telford and then just before full time by fly half Struan Kyle. Struan also converted 3 of the Carlisle tries.
The whole Carlisle team were superb in that second half and certainly had all their parents wound up to fever pitch by the end.
Result: 31 v 15
Half time score: 7 v 10
