Outrageous Cabaret Club are teaming up with Carlisle Cougars – the women’s rugby team for the next two seasons.
To launch the partnership they will be staging a charity cabaret night at the rugby club on Friday 26th November to raise money for guide dogs for the blind or partially sighted. The show will be a preview of the Outrageous Christmas show which will be running from Saturday 27th November through to Christmas Eve.
Rock and roll group Chris Jagger (brother of Rolling Stone Mick) and his band, Roberts ‘n’ Ashcroft – an amazing female comedy and musical duo, and a drag queen will entertain the audience. The night of entertainment will continue at Outrageous Cabaret Club afterwards.
Katie Wilson (chairperson of Carlisle Cougars) said “We are so excited about working with Outrageous, the club is a fantastic venue, Carlisle has needed somewhere chilled out, and that appeals to such a wide range of people for a long time. Projects like this charity event are also just what the rugby club needs. To top it all it is great to be able to help raise the funds for a guide dog. It costs £5000 to name a guide dog puppy so that is our aim.”
Outrageous cabaret club will celebrate its first birthday on the 17th of December, and is the first venture owners Glenn Anderson and Dan Russell have made in Carlisle, however they do have other venues in North West and Glenn is working with the independent Bank Gallery in Carlisle. Both Dan and Glenn have been approached by many groups and charities over the last year, but have decided to support the rugby club and the Mayors charities. Glenn Anderson said “We have had an amazing first year, the people of Cumbria have been so welcoming. And we are pleased to have established a relationship with the women’s rugby team just now. They are an established club that have a good energy about them, and there are many opportunities for us to work together that we should take advantage of. We are really proud to raise money for a guide dog for the blind or partially sighted. A dog to support an independent life would be the best Christmas present that someone could receive”.
Tickets for the event are £10 each, and can be purchased now at the rugby club on Warwick Road, Outrageous Cabaret Club on English Street or over the telephone on 01228 593745 by credit card from Outrageous.
