Yet again the rugby programme fell foul of the weather.

frost on glassSaturday, 29th January should have been one of those rare occasions when we had four, yes four games at home, only for the prospect to be wrecked by a heavy overnight frost.

The pitches were very hard, and given the distance the 1st & 2nd XV opponents were to travel, a final inspection at 10.30 am wiped out the matches.

Come 2.15pm (normal kick off time) the senior pitch had softened in a a few places but there were still many areas of the field that were unsafe.  All the other pitches were still too hard.

Apologies to Hartlepool Rovers, Blackburn, Netherhall and Alnwick who were all due to travel to Warwick Road.

Langholm too had problems.  About noon they were looking for a pitch to play on.  The ground at Milntown was unfit and they were due to play a league game against a side from Aberdeen (and you think Carlisle have some long trips!).  They were unable to contact their guests who were en route by coach.  Seeking a pitch, Langholm contacted Carlisle to see if a pitch was available.

We would have been delighted to help out, but had to say no. Sorry Langholm.

Fixture Chaos Continues

With the weather still wreaking havoc with the league programme, still re-arranements are needed.  Seven 1st XV postponements have been our lot so far, and if it carries on this season could run into next!!
