The weather got in the way yet again on 22nd January, and as a result the league fixture backlog was compounded.
Hollowdrift at Durham City was declared unfit as early at 9.00 am, leaving players and supporters of both sides frustrated yet again.
Consequently, the league programme has been rearranged once more. The most recent postponed games have been re-arranged as follows:
Cleckheaton Home 23/04/2011
Durham City Away 30/04/2011
The published fixture list will be updated shortly to reflect these changes.
Somewhere in all the chaos that is the league this season, ther Cumbria Cup away match against Wigton has to be fitted in – it is due to be completed by 17th April, and it looks like the only option now will be a mid week one.
Next Saturday, 29th January, Carlisle entertain Hartlepool Rovers and anyone who thinks it will be a push over – think again. In of the two games played on 22nd, they pulled off a shock victory at home over Cleckheaton who have been giving a good account of themselves at the top of the league. Rovers will come to Warwick Road with their “tails up” and it may well be a contest not for the “faint hearted”!
Crusaders v Burnage
Opening brightly, Carlisle took the game to their guests, but ultimately is was obvious that pluck and effort was never going to be sufficient to overcome the table toppers. Burnage eventually ran out winners at 3 pts to 36 pts
Colts v Alnwick
Saturday, 22nd January 2011
Alnwick were the visitors for this tense league encounter.
The north east outfit probably had the edge during the first half exchanges but in the second half, Carlisle showed their mettle and troubled Alnwick.
The finall outcome was 22 pts to 22 pts – in the final analysis probably a fair result.
