After an 8 week lay off normal service resumed at Warwick Road, even with the snow, wind,& freezing temperature !
Morpeth were the much brighter team for most of the 1st half & were unlucky to turn around 17-12 down to a Carlisle side that looked jaded after the long break, but managed to create some well worked points when we did decide to move the ball through hands.
First try to Mark Forster, 2nd Tom Fuller, 3rd Lewis Reed with the conversions added by Tom Coulthard.
Despite the conditions both sides moved the ball reasonable well but just fell foul with the final decisive pass, but in general we didn’t have a great deal of set plays but more of a rucking mauling game especially in the second half.
Morpeth pulled the scores back to 17-17 & it stayed that way until the last 5-6 minutes when Carlisle amounted more & more pressure into Morpeth`s 22 resulting in two further scores from George Patterson & Greg Graham, with Jason Israel adding a conversion to the last try.
This game was far from a spectacle, but it was just nice to get back to game time & took Carlisle to 8 from 8 so far this season.
Many thanks to Simon Little ref for the day & his efforts in keeping the game flowing
Result: 29 v 17
