Cougars number 10 is called up to Scotland squad for Scotland V Ireland 6 nations game this weekend.

Lisa Ritchie who plays fly-half for Carlisle Cougars has been called up to the Scotland women’s 6 nations squad who face Ireland this weekend.

The call up is a result of review of the playing squad, and some injuries sustained from the first fixture. Lucy Meadley Cougar’s captain said “It is fantastic that Lisa has been called up to represent Scotland, this is Lisa’s first season of being involved in the Scotland set up, she has worked hard and hopefully will get to show what she can do on the pitch”.

Unfortunately the call up leaves the Cougars’ without their fly-half for their league game against top of the league Leo’s this sunday.

The Cougars haven’t been in action since they played Team Northumbria in the middle of January when despite conceeding a win that day, the team played some of the best rugby they have played this season.

They will need to repeat that performance and find weaknesses in the Leo’s game to capitalise this weekend, but it will prove to be an entertaining game of rugby.

All support welcome – kick off is 2.15pm at the Warwick Road ground.
