Under 14s travelled to Percy Park on a very wet Sunday morning on 6th February.
Conditions were only just playable and a heavy pitch threatened to stilt any open flowing play however Carlisle started really well, absorbing a strong rush from the kick off before shipping the ball out wide to Yousef Sahib who opened the scoring by breaking free and evading tackles.
Sam Windess was next as despite strong play from the Park forwards, Carlisle retained possession and when the backs broke Sam used pace and strength to make it to the line.
Duncan Hill tried a few jinking runs before finally breaking free and touching down. Yousef Sahib was on hand again to use speed for his second. James Spencer slotted 2 from 4 and Carlisle held a very strong half time lead.
Park came back in the second half and made the most of their forwards size advantage. Two classic forwards tries from breakdowns and set pieces and one strong backs run saw them pull back the score to within 9 points without reply before time ran out and Carlisle left as deserved winners on the day.
Well done to Joe Cullen and Nat Marley who both made their debuts for Carlisle today.
