Carlisle RFC U13s hosted Penrith on Sunday 27th March but went down to a 15 to 24 defeat.
Penrith started strong from the off and their first try came within 5 mins following some excellent passing and strong running. They duly converted. Carlisle responded with a try from Scrum Half James Telford, who collected from winger Marc Gallimore after a Carlisle penalty 15 metres out.
Continued pressure from the visitors saw them winning most of the rooks and Penrith eventually came back with their second. Before the break, persistent running and good hands saw Carlisle score their second try from flanker Josh Atkinson who pushed over despite some determined defending right on the try line.
The second half saw some better ball work and support from Carlisle and eventually Telford ran his second in. Possession was fairly even for the rest of the game, but once again better performance at the rook, saw Penrith turn over the ball too many times and they scored, then converted again with 5 mins to go and this sealed their victory.
Charlie Pearson came close with a fine run from deep in the Carlisle half and a Harry Powell got tackled just short of the line, but the home side were unable to capitalise on these.
