Carlisle have signed three new backs this week, thus creating more competition for places in the back division.
Nick Bidwell who now lives in Brampton is a centre and comes to Carlisle from Northern.  Bidwell was one of the back division that made life uncomfortable for the Carlisle defence last season when they comprehensively disposed of the Warwick Road side.  He works for the RAF.
Also newly arrived is Matt Tinsley, another centre, who played for Saffron Walden in the London leagues.  Matt qualified as a physiotherapist at Cambridge and has moved to Carlisle to take a masters degree at the University of Cumbria.
The final one of three is winger, Pete Hanson, who lives in Carlisle.
