Well beaten & no complaints
Having recorded a couple of welcome league wins in their previous two outings, Carlisle were hoping to get something out of this match especially having noted that Aspatria had managed to claim league points off the Cheshire outfit.
Just when a settled team was beginning to emerge, the injury jinx struck during the week before the match; and during the match more serious injuries added to the Carlisle woes.
Carlisle opened brightly enough and there were signs that Northwich were going to be tested.  But, before ten minutes had elapsed, lock Callum Rowlandson had to retire, succumbing to a severe dead leg.
Gradually the home team took control and it became clear that were going to be against it.  They were much sharper in all facets of the match and there hold on the game was never in doubt.
By half time Carlisle had two players in an ambulance on the way to Crewe; prop Callum Hermeston has since had surgery for a dislocated knee, with centre Dan Holmes joining him with a dislocated shoulder and head wounds.
There’s not too much to write about about this display, but the city side have a chance to atone for their misfortune when they entertain Wilmslow.  However, it has not gone un-noticed that Wilmslow disposed of Vale of Lune last week, so it could be another hard day at the office!
Hopefully, at least some of those who suffered training injuries will be fit and available for selection!
