Carlisle U11s kicked off the season at a damp Cockermouth with a mini tournament against mixed u11/12 sides from Cockermouth, Keswick & Wigton and Carlisle U12s.

Their opening match was against the hosts and after an evenly contested start, Taryn Reay broke away to score the match’s only try. Jake Whittaker added the extras.

The U11s were getting into their stride and tries from Taryn Reay and Charlie Skeer were enough to see off Keswick. Henry Walker added the extras.
Wigton were next up and the strength of the forwards produced tries for Ethan Longworth (x2), Henry Walker & Lawrence Wilson. Extras were added by Charlie Skeer and Rory Mills as kicking duty was rotated. Wigton stole a late try to spoil the clean sheet.

Carlisle U12s were the final opponents and emerged eventual winners as well as tournament winners with 2 tries by Ruiridh Barker, both converted by Gregory Baines.

The U11s pushed their bigger counterparts all the way showing great skill and strength despite a significant size difference. All round, the squad performed well and took the well earned plaudits due to the confidence in the tackling, rucking, mauling and passing.
