Carlisle U14’s second match on Sunday 2nd October was against Egremont.
In wet conditions they got a thorough lesson in the importance of fast running and more importantly getting your defensive line to move up quickly as the ball is released.
They lost 5 – 39.
It was clear from the outset that the visitors were very quick and ran in tries from the start.
Several of the Egremont tries were ran from deep in their own half and once at speed the Carlisle defence were no match. Despite not giving up Carlisle could not contain the visitors.
Carlisle scored a consolation try in the second half when fly half Struan Kyle put a grubber kick through which he dropped on to put Carlisle on the score sheet.
Final score 5 – 39. Valuable lessons learned for the next training session.
