Carlisle Under 10’s Struck Gold at first Rugby Festival of the 2011/12 season.

On Sunday 2nd October 2011, a number of teams from Carlisle Rugby Club Youth Section travelled to Cockermouth, who hosted the first junior rugby festival of the season.

Carlisle’s Under 10 squad played games against a combined Barbarian team, Cockermouth and Wigton.

Carlisle romped home a comfortable 7 tries to nil against the barbarians.

The game against Cockermouth proved a stiffer challenge with the score at one try each at half time, but determined attack and strong defence proved to much for Cockermouth and Carlisle eventually came out winners with the only try scored in the second half. Winning 2 tries to 1.

The final game against Wigton had to be won to assure Carlisle of a well earned trophy. Carlisle cam out top with another 7 tries to nil haul against Wigton.

The three games allowed all the players in the squad to take a full part in the festival, including three boys whose rugby debut it was. With all three boys getting onto the scoreboard.

Carlisle Under 10’s look forward to welcoming Penrith to the Warwick Road ground on Sunday 11th October for what is expected to be another fun day of rugby.
