Carlisle RFC have a day off on Saturday 26th November.  They should have entertained Kirkby Lonsdale in the semi final of the Cumbria Cup.

However, due to the withdrawal of the original and subsequent nominations by Cumbria RFU for the RFU Intermediate Cup, the south Cumbrian’s have been nominated to take their place;  they will be away to Fleetwood.  Good luck to Kirkby, we hope they do well.

Sadly though, the prospect of fixture congestion may arise later in the season.  Cumbrian clubs were asked to get cup games played as soon as possible in the season.  This, following the severe congestion that occurred last season due to the bad weather.  Kirkby and Carlisle agreed a date but that has now gone by the board.

The next free date is late in January, although if the weather “turns” then any league postponements will take precedence.

Carlisle would have appreciated more notice of the situation and  had it not been for the “jungle telegraph”, might not have known about the Kirkby Lonsdale situation.  Indeed, it was Tuesday of this week before they had any form of official contact.
