Carlisle RFC under 15’s entertained a strong Percy Park side at Carlisle.
The visitors started very well and attacked the line from the off. Stout defence saw Carlisle hold them out before shipping ball through the line for Elliott Baines to score, somewhat against the run of play.
James Spencer duly converted and Percy Park came back with a vengeance scoring three unconverted tries to finish the first half with an eight point lead.
Half time changes saw Carlisle back in the points with Baines scoring a second after good work in the centres. Baines added the conversion to close the gap to a point.
This spurred on the visitors who made good ground and with powerful forward play they added two tries without conversion. Carlisle came back at them and finally got the backs working well.
Sam Windess scored a great try using speed to clear the defence closing the gap to 19-25. Elliott Baines injury enforced a shuffle round but seemed to inspire an extra effort from Carlisle.
Two or three good moves were stopped by sterling defence from Percy Park who looked like holding on to a victory before James Spencer danced his way through three challenges to get under the posts.
His conversion made it 26-25 and Carlisle held out for the last three minutes to record a fine hard earned win against a very strong visiting team.
