U15’s v Tynedale 13th Nov
Carlisle under 15’s met a Tynedale side who had really improved since last year.
The game started really brightly following a respectful minute’s silence and despite Tynedale’s early pressure Carlisle held their defensive line.
This was turned into attack pushing up field where Jack Freshwater burst out of the backs line, getting his first try of the season.
Tynedale came back to level the scores with an unconverted try and despite forays from both sides half time saw the scores all square at 5-5.
The Tynedale half time talk worked well and they very quickly grabbed a try to set the scene for the second half as the level of rugby intensified and a really competitive game developed.
Superb work by the forwards finally paid dividends as the backs shipped the ball wide to Yousef Sahib who stepped round tacklers and made it to the line. James Spencer added the conversion with a tremendous kick from the touch line.
More sterling work from the forwards saw fast ball across the backs to Ben McKean who sprinted, side stepped and handed off to score in the corner. Tynedale came back with a pick and go by the number 8 from a scrum on the half way line, before Ben McKean repeated his try of five minutes earlier to edge Carlisle ahead.
The forwards battle continued on even terms but Carlisle gradually gained the upper hand and Liam Warwick thought he had sealed a victory but his try was held up and he retired injured.
From the restart Carlisle kept up the pressure with a series of scrums deep in the Tynedale half that created the space for Sam Windess to break through and score the match winning try. Final score 27-17.
