After several attempts to play this game, the weather finally prevailed and Carlisle travelled to Workington for their County Cup match.
The game started brightly enough with Workington heading into the Carlisle half straight away and commanding some good position gained by strong rucking.
The Carlisle forwards woke up to the challenge and quickly got back into the game, immediately creating some fast ball for the backs and Luke Robinson benefited from good passing to open the scoring.
The forwards continued their pressure and within the next five minutes Sam Windess was able to use his speed to score two more tries. Daniel Gisborne and Yousef Sahib added to the score line with Sahib converting his own kick.
James Spencer grabbed a try just before half time to take the score to 38 nil as he added a fourth conversion to his points haul.
The second half started in the same vein as the first and Carlisle capitalised on their forwards strong play to add two further tries by Liam Warwick and George Sims.
A conversion made it 50 nil and the result was officially declared. Huge credit must go to the Workington players as despite the scoreline they kept going right to the end and kept at their game with determination.
