This was the third meeting between the sides with Carlisle winning both previous meetings and showed little intention to let that slip.
Early pressure from KL forced Carlisle to defend deep, but quick hands released Taryn Reay for the opening try for Carlisle, calmly converted by Jake Whittaker.
KL hit back and following scrappy play near the Carlisle try line, Carlisle failed to clear their lines and KL scored a try and added the extras.
The remainder of the first half resembled the boggy pitch, with play bogged down in the forwards with plenty of mauls and rucks and ill-tempered disruption by the away team, before George Dudley scrambled over for a try and then added the extras to give a 14-7 half time lead.
With instructions to utilise the space out wide, Carlisle gained the upper hand and KL were unable to cope with Carlisle’s speedy backs.
With play breaking up, Jake Whittaker went over for two unconverted tries and Taryn Reay settled proceedings with his second of the match, Rory Mills adding the extras to give a final score of 31-7, reflecting the domination and determination by Carlisle to play rugby.
