Saturday, 15th November 2008 Cumbria Shield League After a breakdown on the way, Silloth arrived late with twelve players and we made up their numbers from our replacements and a big thanks to Phil Healy and Robert Allen for entering the fray! Saturday, 8th November 2008 CUMBRIA SHIELD LEAGUE This was a match dominated by the Hornets forwards but it was also one of missed chances.  The weather did not help but a number of handling errors and a few handling mistakes on the try line saw us miss out on several more tries.  Even the Creighton Continue Reading…

‘Bennies’ Buzzed by Hornets

Absolutely a great game to win because St Benedict’s fielded a good side and the conditions were horrendous.  The front row deserves special mention as it had to be rejigged after prop Harry Marshall had his nose re-arranged in the opening minutes! Geoff Grieves moved out from hhoker to prop and the lasted the 80 Continue Reading…

Saturday, 27th September  - Cumbria Shield League Sadly, Carlisle had to cancel at relatively short notice with several late cry offs that meant they were unable to field a viable front row.  Sincere apologies to Silloth who deserve better when they are trying to revitalise the game in the town.

Creighton 2nds were the visitors to Warwick Road on Saturday (20th September) and stirring the proverbial ‘Hornets Nest’ is probably an apt description, because Creighton were stung, certainly as far as the scoreline reads! Although the scoreline suggests a walkover, Creighton played very well for the first 40 minutes, their forwards at times turned over Continue Reading…
