EGM Approves Rule Changes

At an extraordinary general meeting of the Club held on 26th February, the meeting unanimously approved three changes to the consitution.
The meeting was originally called to approve a change to the rules so as to allow the General Committee to make an application to have the Club incorporated following recommendations from the Rugby Football Union. The committee will now takle steps to have the Club limited by guarantee, thus affording substantial protection to committee members who, otherwise, may be exposed to unacceptable risks.
Two further changes to the rules related to the frequency or committe meetings and to the letting of the Club and the use of the car park etc.

Have your say on the Experimental Law Variations (ELVs)

Please take time to read the following information from the RFU and then complete the on line survey. This is an opportunity for everyone connected with the Club to contribute to the future of the game. Don’t miss it!
The Rugby Football Union is giving everyone involved in English rugby the chance to have their say on the Experimental Law Variations being trialled this season.
A website survey at www.rfusurvey.co.uk is currently open to all interested parties until December 16 and the results will be used as part of the RFU’s report to the International Rugby Board, who will vote on whether to implement the ELVs into rugby law in May 2009.
The RFU believes that some of the 13 ELVs could fundamentally change the nature of the game as it is currently known and that all those potentially affected by their introduction should be consulted.
RFU Chief Executive Francis Baron said: “As these Experimental Law Variations could potentially result in major changes to the Laws of the Game, the RFU believes it is important to consult those involved in the game at every level and give them an opportunity to express their views.
“This online survey will form a major part of our report to the IRB on what impact the ELVs have had on English rugby this season. The responses last time demonstrated just how many people care passionately about this game of ours.
“I would urge everyone with an interest in the future of our game to go to www.rfusurvey.co.uk and spend ten minutes completing the questionnaire so we can paint as accurate a picture as possible of people’s views in England.”

The General Committee has recently approved a new policy regarding the protection of our young players. The policy specifically deals with guidlines regarding the publication of photographs and personal details.
Clearly, the document is not exhaustive, and it is not possible to cover all possible eventualities. The Club does, and will continue to take all reasonable steps, to safeguard those for whom they have a duty of care.

Ladies & Girls Administration

A sub committee who will report directly to the Rugby Committee will administer the Ladies & Girls Rugby Section of the Club.
