Belinda Lloyd (Lottie)
Sponsor: Burbushes of Penrith
Belinda plays at flanker and has played women’s rugby for 15 years. She started at Manchester Uni, then Avonmouth, Clifton, Ivybridge, Plymouth Albian and has been at Carlisle for three years.
Her favourite food is Asparagus! and colour is purple.
Her most memorable rugby experience is playing her 1st game of rugby for the Cougars after three years out with injury thinking she would never play again
Hobbies include, Bell ringing, bird ringing, cycling, fell walking, refereeing, choir singing and rugby!
Aspirations: To become a good referee!
Bel is also an active member of the Cougars committee. Leading with fundraising campaigns and chairing meetings.
Caroline Dinwoodie (Caz)

Playing centre in her first season of rugby. Caroline was recruited by one of our players at a Cumberland wrestling event – its great to see her improving with every game!
Favourite Food: Chinese and favourite colour, teal
She hopes her most memorable rugby experience is yet to come and says she will “give it her all”.
Hobbies: Young farmers, pipe band.

Emma Dalton
Emma plays as Tight head prop and shares her first season of rugby with her colleague, Caroline. She is proud to have received coach’s player of the match in her first league game and is proving to be a rock at number three.
Favourite Food: Lasagne and favourite colour, blue.
Hobbies: Young farmers, Carlisle United
Emma Sutton (Fish/Fishy)
Emma joined the Cougar U18 set up this year having played for Cockermouth for 4 years, at North East regional level for 2 years and has put in a match for Cumbria. Plays at Flanker and second row.
She aspires to get better at rugby and would like to go to University.
Favourite Food: Chinese and favourite colour is pink.
Her most memorable rugby experience is getting four tackles in a row while playing regional rugby.
Hobbies: Rugby, netball, shopping and partying.
We hope she continues to enjoy her rugby here and that we can help her progress to the level she wishes to achieve.
Helen Hamilton
Nickname: Tbc – Something to do with necking pints!
This is Helen’s first years with the Cougar’s having previously played at University.
Favourite Food: Lasagne and her favourite colour is Pink
Her most unmemorable rugby experience was getting knocked out in a “friendly”!
Hobbies: Snowboarding, surfing and rugby.
Helen has proved to be a committed Cougar so far, turning out for matches and putting some real power in the pack! Her Manchester city tours are second to none!
Jenny Pos (JP)

Played for six seasons and proves to be quite versatile between nine and fifteen. Also played regional for the North West.
She aspires to play in a forward position
Favourite Food: Strawberries and favourite colour is red
Hobbies: Triathlons and rugby
Jenny is an old timer with the Cougars, we still don’t tire of seeing her awesome tackling skills on a pitch and hope to be able to get her to play in the forwards soon but don’t hold your breath!
Josie Barrie
Josie is completely new to women’s rugby and has just started playing rugby with the Cougars in 2008/2009 season.
On the field Josie wants to improve as a rugby player and off it, to set up her own business.
Favourite Colour: Blue
Hobbies: Swimming, reading, socialising and now, rugby.
Josie has been making improvements from week to week and is getting to grips with a game that is totally new to her! We hope to see her continue her progress.
Katie Wilson (Damage)
Having played rugby for 14 years at Lancaster University, Vale of Lune, Old Leams and most recently 7 years at Carlisle. Her playing position is 2nd row and hooker.
Favourite Food: Steak and favourite colour is blue
Her most memorable rugby experience: Cup-final at Coventry for the Cougars.
Hobbie: Eating, cooking and growing food to eat!
Her apsiration this year is not to break any more team mates!
Damage is an ex-Cougars captain and active member of the Committee. She leads the development of the Cougars and is always striving to better us both on and off the pitch.
Kerry Hodgson
Kerry is now in her second year with the Cougars at Flanker, 2nd row and winger. She has yet to decide which she prefers! her aim is improve herself as a player and continue to enjoy the “tours”!
Favourite Food: Sausage, chips and gravy and favourite colour is blue
Hobbies: Reading, cinema, drinking
Kerry is shining this season getting more pitch time and boshing with the big guns! We look forward to even better things to come.
Laura Cunningham (Shoe)
Played at Nottingham Uni, Lichfield, and represented England Students Rugby League.
Favourite Food: Alcohol and favourite colour is Beige
She says she is still waiting for her most memorable rugby experience but thinks it will be when she gets to play full back. She aspires to play at prop
Hobbies: Antique dealing, drinking, stalking Tuna.
Shoe is another new member of the Cougars this season and is providing great entertainment for the team, proving to be a great asset playing anywhere in the pack and being involved in the club’s committees.
Lisa Ritchie (Tuna)
A fly half having played 3-4 years at Annan and Carlisle.
She aspires to be a good team player and join the Police.

Favourite Food: Mince and potatoes and favourite colour is yellow
Her most memorable rugby experience is a conversion from touch line in last minute against Norwich to get a draw.
Hobbies: Horse riding and rugby.
Lucy Meadley

Played Prop for 1 year at Durham Uni and in her 5th season with the Cougars with 2nd season as team Captain.
Favourite Food: Food and favourite colour is purple
Her most memorable rugby experience: Playing 12!
Hobbies: Eating, drinking and rugby!

Ness Galbraith (Nessie)
Sponsor: M & D Galbraith
Previously played as Prop and 2nd row for 13 years at Lancaster, Vale of Lune and Cougars. Ness was forced to retire from her playing career but continues to be an active member of the Cougars squad, providing physio and generally keeping us on the pitch!
Favourite Food: Cheese and favourite colour is orange.
Her most memorable rugby experience is winning the league and promotion into Championship North 1.
Hobbies: Hill walking, canoeing, drinking.
Rosie Tyson
Rosie’s playing history has seen her on the pitch at Hatfield College, Durham Uni, Hartlepool, North East, Aspatria and currently Carlisle!
Favourite Food: Meat and two veg and favourite colour is black.
Her most memorable rugby experience: Rugby tour to Spain
Hobbies: TA and squash
Rosie is proving to be one of the most committed members of the squad. She has now started booking holidays so she doesn’t miss any fixtures. That’s what we like to see!
Sarah Burns (Frank)
Currently plays hooker but also flanker and prop. Sarah has played 1 year for Leicester Uni and 1 year for the Cougars.
Favourite Food: Cheesecake and Basil and favourite colour is purple.
Her most memorable rugby experience: Playing varsity rugby match against Demontfort Uni at Welford road.
Hobbies: Playing piano, guitar, gardening and bird-watching.
Frank has taken on the important role of fixtures secretary for the Cougars this season and so far we have had buses when we need them! She has turned very blond this season though, so it remains to be seen if this has a knock-on effect!
Sarah Elsy (Elsie)
Sponsor: Jay Box
Usually plays No. 8, 2nd Row and occasionally Prop. Sarah has played rugby for 2 years at Glasgow University and in her second season with Cougars.
Favourite Food: Anything my mum cooks and for her favourite colour, says she is partial to a bit of turquoise.
Her most memorable rugby experience: Stripping to my underwear at the side of the pitch at my first game because I had no shorts, no under shorts and no shirt. I also had to borrow the girl’s gum shield. Nice.
Hobbies: Rugby, tennis, fell walking, theatre, wasting my money, drinking my money, general mooching around…
When asked what her aspirations are, she said “Driving an Aston Martin would be very good. Passing my driving test would help”.
She would like to point out that her nickname is a spelling mistake. And, a word to the wise: if it’s a choice between a T-shirt and a bottle of wine, take the T-shirt!
Simone Lynn (Simon, Timmy, Febreze)
Simone has played Winger for the Cougars for a few years since being recruited at a freshers fair!
Favourite Food: Strawberries and Cream and favourite colour is yellow.
Most memorable rugby experience: Tours and A&E trips.
Hobbies: Skydiving, drinking, friends.
Aspirations: To become a better player with better hair!
Simone has come on leaps and bounds, so far making it through three games on the trot with out going to hospital!
Steph Musgrave
2008/2009 is Steph’s first season as Winger / Flanker with the Cougars, having played for the U18s at Carlisle for 4 years.
Favourite Food: Spaghetti Bolognaise and favourite colour is pink.
Aspirations: To become a pilot in the RAF
Steph is showing what an asset the U18s team is. She is the first player to come through the system and is showing great versatility playing anywhere from 15 through to flanker!
Jess Barnes (BJ)
Playing positions: No. 8
Playing history: 3 years at Carlisle.
Favourite Food: Watermelon
Favourite Colour: Midnight blue
Most memorable rugby experience: Making it to Regional trials
Hobbies: Playing with egg shaped balls
Aspirations:Be the first woman to walk on the moon and play rugby for England.
Any other comments:
Jess is one of our finest youth exports, playing rugby at Regional level for both the North East and North West. She is a real asset to the Girls section and youth rugby as a whole. We look forward to her turning out for the senior team and intend to celebrate her 18th with all the tackles she’s missed out on so far at the Wednesday sessions. It’s in triple figures…
Caf Smith (Caf)
Playing positions: Flank
Playing history: 2009 is the first season playing rugby.
Favourite Food: Lamb
Favourite Colour: Green
Most memorable rugby experience: Being stood on in a tackle!
Hobbies: Rugby, Guiding, walking, sewing
Aspirations: To improve and keep on playing
Any other comments: Caf has proved herself a real tenacious character, showing commitment to the team and progressing with each training session. We hope this is her first season of many!
Philippa Bell (Phil)
Playing positions: Back!
Playing history: 7 years – Aberdeen Uni, Aberdeenshire Quines, Scottish Universities, Carlisle.
Favourite Food: Chocolate
Favourite Colour: Purple
Most memorable rugby experience: Lining up when playing for Scottish Students against English Students and singing ‘Flower of Scotland’ before the match…I’m English!
Hobbies: Rugby, snowboarding
Aspirations: To marry Hugh Jackman
Any other comments: Phil, Philbert, Phildo, Philloughby is an ol’ timer with the Cougars playing on and off with the team in between travelling, uni and living in London! She has been our scrum-half and general ‘backs’ player this season, which has proved mighty useful for us!
Sarah Spires (Scrappy)

Playing positions: Fullback or 10 if we’re desperate
Playing history: School 7s Captain, Manchester Uni, Carlisle for 6 seasons, now into 7th season. Represented both North West and North East at Regional level.
Favourite Food: Pineapple – on anything
Most memorable rugby experience: Representing the Cougars in the National Cup final at Coventry and being bitten in my first game at school.
Hobbies: Watching my husband play scrm-half for Aspatria, pilates, drinking tea with friends!
Aspirations: To have a healthy and happy family
Any other comments: Cougars are the best team I have been involved with – always supportive and fun. A brilliant group of girls and has remained so throughout my 7 seasons!
Sharon Wright
Playing positions: Winger
Playing history: 2008/9 is my first season with the Cougars. Before joining, I trained with Cockermouth Ladies for 2 years.
Favourite Food: Strawberries, Irish stew & dumplings
Favourite Colour: Blue or red
Most memorable rugby experience: Getting to play a match after training for so long!
Hobbies: Spinning, circuits, walking the dog
Aspirations: To enjoy the experience of every match and to improve my fitness.
Any other comments: Sharon was stolen from the Cockermouth Ladies set up this season and has turned coat rather easily! She has proved to be a steely and dedicated member of the team!
